Except for London, the rest all suck!!
How embarrassing to be a Canadian - couldn't they have asked someone under 50 to play or anyone whose had a hit record in the past 20 years? If their clearing out old folks homes for the day then where's Cory Hart? The Parachute Club? Platinum Blonde? The Spoons?
Sir Bob needs to get out into the sun!
You'd think that he would look more buff what with carrying around the weight of the world on his shoulders all these years.
Cheers,
Chris.
London, Paris and Edinburgh for me. I'd go to Barrie's too. Maybe there's not the star power of a Beyonce, but it's a solid lineup. Who needs glam?
first of all - i went to the live 8 site for the list of venues and they're somehow different from yours. edinburgh? whatever - i'll leave my answer as is, hope it makes sense!
Q. If you could attend any one of the following Live 8 gigs, which one would you like to see the most? Why?
wow – tough. i have several choices, for several different reasons. barrie would be easiest, as it’s a hop, skip and jump away meaning I could afford it, and wouldn’t have to take time off work. (and unlike your first commentator, i think the lineup doesn't suck, i happen to rather like some of these bands.) that is, of course, the lamest (albeit most realistic) of all possible answers.
now if I had a satchel of pixie dust, well! i think my first choice would be tokyo mostly cuz Bjork is playing there, but also cuz can you believe it’s been 9 years since i was there??? talk about being overdue for a return visit!
my close-second choice was a bit tough. finally i decided that while it would be very cool to be at a concert in versailles (we are talking about the sun king’s decadent residence, no?), there’s nobody i really care to see in that lineup – other than maybe the cure and youssou n’dour. so my 2nd choice is london, where no fewer than 7 bands really caught my eye: pink floyd, u2, sting, ub40, madonna (c’mon, ya gotta see her at least once, and i’m still due), annie lennox and keane (lovely, private reasons).
If you could see as many shows as you like, on consecutive days in each host city, how would you arrange it? First we take... Berlin? Barrie?
1. london
2. barrie
3. tokyo
4. paris
5. eden project
6. johannesburg
7. berlin
8. philadelphia
9. rome
Which show would you like to see the least? From bad to worst, how would you rate the gigs? '1' being the best - '7' being the worst
see the previous answer. since i had the choice of visiting all locations, i dropped the appeal of each city/spot and rated according to the lineup. but hey – maybe the rome one kicks ass, i just don’t happen to know these people (or, the ones i do know are a little too creampuffy for me).
Bonus Q: Do you think Geldolf should ditch the grey sideburns or wot?
no fucking way! being a grrrl very much in lust with the salt-and-pepper thing, I definitely think they’re hot… (grin)
Well it's off to Hyde Park for me!
There were one or two second choices, but in the end the inclusions of a few major acts (that I've yet to see) who are nearing retirement age, makes Jolly Old England the only choice for me.
Wow Bob! I used to think Keith Richards was the most 'dead' looking rocker.....
One last thought;
Where is the entry from the land 'Down Under'!? South Africa is a poor substitue for Sydney.
Cheers
